Art and Trauma

Creative, non-verbal and visual techniques can be powerful tools to explore emotional and mental processes, especially in relation to trauma. Through painting and sculpting, for example, participants can express their feelings in ways that are sometimes difficult to put into words. 

Creatieve, non-verbale en beeldende technieken kunnen krachtige middelen zijn om emotionele en mentale processen te verkennen, vooral in relatie tot trauma. Door middel van o.a. schilderen en boetseren kunnen deelnemers hun gevoelens uitdrukken op manieren die soms moeilijk in woorden te vangen zijn.

De kruising van kunst en genezing benadrukt het diepgaande vermogen van creativiteit om herstel te vergemakkelijken. Of het nu via formele therapie of persoonlijke verkenning is, kunst biedt een veelzijdige benadering om het lichaam, de hersenen en de geest te genezen nadat ze overweldigd zijn door moeilijke ervaringen. Door zich bezig te houden met kunst, kunnen individuen betekenis, verbinding en veerkracht vinden en stappen zetten naar een meer geïntegreerd en evenwichtig zelf.

The workshop "Meer samen ,samen meer " with the police management.
Theme: Drugs,safety, etc. Paintings made during the workshop has been combined into  one huge painting and used in various marketing communication items as annual report to the ministry and flyers for the consumer.
Besides each policeman got a screenprint of the painting  for his office sothat he remember all the agreements and actions visualized in the painting.
