Often people look, but they do not see the essence. There is so much to discover in art: light, layers, dimensions, emotions, together with design. It can broaden your horizons enormously.
Henk van Hemert investigates the complexity of human existence by identifying parallels between paradoxical ideas about violence, innocence, guilt and shame. The human figure acts as a central element in his compositions, the energetic way in which he places the figure on the canvas reflects the relationship between painting and painter, suggesting images that struggle to emerge fully and reveal themselves.
General feelings about interpersonal relationships and relationships between humans and animals are and remain the source of inspiration for his art.
Worked in Formerum and Hoorn on a number of my basic screen prints.
Sources of inspiration are the performances during the Oerol festival on Terschelling.
The subjects of these performances in the dunes and forests are different. My feelings and impressions are incorporated in the painting of my existing screen prints that deal with human relationships.
This theme is often "the common thread" in the expressions of this festival.
The warm weather in the dunes, the great performances of the festival of 2023 ,the dances, and the music influenced the making of this painting :-)
